L is for the way you look at me....

in leu of the ever anticipated

{whether it be for good or for evil...}

 valentines day

i have been thinking a lot about love.

( well and i gave a lesson at church on sunday about it...)

and i have decided i want to think all week about all

the amazing things in my life that make me feel love

or ways that i appreciate love. or see love in others.

ways i like to share love with others.

 oh love love love.

what a lovely things it tis.

today, as cliche of all, the husband takes the cake.

 i adore him madly.

i have a secret that i probably should really not share.

 but i will anyway

because when it comes down to it i have zero self control.

{that is another thing i should really not tell anyone.}

here it is:

in a room full of people i look around and

im so giddy and excited and that my husband is that hottie
over there.

ok there i said it. my husband makes me prideful.

because i like him too much.

and i think he is cuter than everyone else.

blushing.

soooo two people really made me blush this week.

i received my first blogger awards.

and i think it was very nice of them.

the husband thinks i am the biggest nerd in america for posting about this.

however, i would feel ungrateful if i didnt.

and its what the givers did, so i suppose its what i am to do.
 ( oh blog world...)

the first is from the beautiful calibird.

and the other from the ever fashionable tuesdai noelle

i am very new at this, however i suppose i am to write

seven interesting things about my bad self.

1. i can clap my feet perfectly together.
just as well as clapping my hands. makes the exact sound.

2.i had heart surgery one year and one month ago. currently have a metal splint trying to close the "quarter size" hole in the center of my heart.

3.my mother ( full danish) and my father ( full irish)

met on a study abroad in switzerland their junior year of college,

both full blown hippies. mother was engaged to another man back in the states.

didn't take her long to decide  father was much better,
fell in love and they were married

six months later in the swiss alps.

 mother made their matching robes

father made their matching moccasins for the ceremony.

both wore crowns of flowers. ( father must have gotten

some lost in his large curly fro, maybe some fell

into his equally large curly beard.

as mothers long dark hair flowed )

4. music man was the first musical i ever performed. age 6.
continued on for many years.

5.the nutcracker my first ballet. age 4. continued on for many years

6. always was my dream to be an actress. i am in my own little world.

7.  i had eighteen bridesmaids at my wedding. yes 18

again i thank you kind ladies, and invite you all to check them out here and here

just a boy and a girl. forever.

just about six months ago,
the husband and i were married/sealed

in the salt lake city temple of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints.
my parents were sealed there 39 years ago

six of my older siblings ( i still have one hottie sister to go!!)
have since been married/sealed in various temples accorss utah and california.

the official definition for "sealing" is found here

inside the temple i feel such beautiful peace and joy

without even trying to. what a a relief.
i love to learn of who i really am,

God's child. His daughter. and what my real destiny is.
 to Become like Him

and how important it is that i live my everyday preparing to meet Him (when i die)

to live as His Son Jesus Christ lived.

to treat others as He did and to serve in His name.

i am so grateful for my knowledge of this truth

for the walls of the temple that help me to remember this

to not get so lost in daily living and the cares of the world that are always pressing upon us all.

oh, and i am ever so grateful that since i am sealed to this guy, that means i get to be with him forever.

 death cannot break the bond.

 i like that.
well, because, he is quite cute.

oh diet coke. how i love thee.

it all started with a migraine. at age 14. in my sunday school class.

 my father was teaching.
and all of a sudden i could no longer see

3/4 of the chalk board.
but instead i saw swirly, silver spots.

and then green, goldish, and yellow spots too.

 and then bammmmmmmm.

pain like a well, really bad pain.

in the top left corner of my eyeball. and forehead.

and i wanted to puke. well, i did puke. luckily i made it to the bathroom.

the pops met me in there, what a kind soul.

not even embarrassed to go into the ladies room for his puking daughter.

could hardly see the toilet.

and its pretty much gone down like that ever since.
started monthly. then weekly. the past four years its been daily.

then diet coke came in the picture. to the rescue. oh diet coke. how i love thee.

the docs literally prescribed diet coke. suppose could be along the lines of medicinal marijuana??
but im not one to know.

now, when...i start feeling that blasted pain. and sip sip. peace out migraine.

me and the diet coke, we are siamese twins. attached at the hip you could say.

 i take her everywhere.

except, you know where i usually dont take her

well, to restuarants. because they provide their own diet coke.

i went to los hermanos, a provo favorite the other night with two of my favorite friends.

i ordered off the kids menu ( to save cash of course) and got a coke.

no joke, the coke doubled the price of my tab.

diet coke at this joint was $3.

so if you are a soda drinker, and you go to los hermanos, BYOS.
(bring your own soda.)

congrats darling.
here is her entry.

Anonymous The Neo-Traditionalist said...

You two are sooooo cute! I have dated far too many men and have far too many stories. Thank god for my fiance! Let's see...when I was sixteen I got caught up with the son of a certain Mexican president whilst on vacation in Ixtappa and spent two weeks being tailed by his bodyguards. That was awkward. Nothing's more romantic than two burly men watching your every move...haha. Thank god I returned to America and normalcy : ) XOXO

kindred hearts.

i suppose i could say date nights

with the right individual

are a spectacular occurrence.

 especially when they end

with a full belly and a book in hand.

the husband is the

one on the right.

  not the left.

i mean, i could understand the  confusion and all.

not to mention, before the wonderful

husband i used to detest dates.

and always try to have them be over before 8.

( hilarious post by my lovely friend 7upkels
about dates ending before 8 found here)

plus, i like his shoes.

its a bonus. he sits like this

when he is focusing.

 like at church.

and when he reads.

dating can be arduous

whether sparce or

completly overbooked

it can be thrilling and intoxicating.

and for some of us.absolutly hilarious.

come on. we all have our stories

lets hear em. i wanna know the best or

in some ways, worst dating stories

experiences, events. whatever you wanna

call it. or say. let it loose sister. or brother.

i will post tomorrow the top three things i hear.

and we will all love it together. cuz lets face it.

we've all been there. and then i will tell you my personal

story at the end of this fabulous fiasco.

{ with my dear husbands permission of course}

could i beeeeee any more excited????

i get by with a little help from my friends.

lets talk. cooking. well. i dont do it. i wish i did. ok, sometimes i wish i did. i try to. ok, sometimes i try to. everyone i know under the sun does it. but, alas, to save my precious soul. cant do it.
my beautiful best friend

from high school gave me this gorgeous cook book for our wedding. it is

from 1940 and has amazing recipes and delightful pics. however, it just

sits. well, and it looks pretty.with no flour or oil stains from me.

i cleared anthro's shelves

of kitchen supplies by way of motivation.

 if i had darling

utensils and supplies,

 of course i will cook.

unfortunately. they too, just sit there. and look pretty.
{i could not embarrass myself more, i took these shots ( and i have zero skills in photography) while the husband was off reading, so these are just a few of the kitchen, ill post more later.}

so what i am here

to petition you for is some help

 my dear friends.

it has been six months of the lovely husband

cooking for me. he has paid his dues

and i would love to start cooking for him.

but where to start? no clue.

what are your favorite recipies?

easy ones? or online sites? or cookbooks?

you dont have to tell me anything big...just some simple little

pointers...maybe some motivating factors that helped you get started?

 i would sure appreciate it.

thanks all,      you sure do make my day!

loves to you!!

haiti.

yesterday i came across this.

and  decided it was high time i did something for our friends over in haiti. it didnt take my nieces long, my mother was up at my sisters visiting. the night the earthquake hit, she was explaining to my nieces and nephews the damage and how many young children lost their homes, parents and belongings and are now without everything. my five year old little taeyas eyes swelled up and she declared we have to do something for them! she decided cupcakes were the best idea. my darling mom revised it a bit, and they sold the cupcakes to all their neighbors. little taeya did all the talking on the doors herself. on sunday, she filled out the (tithing) slip herself and donated all the money they made ($40 bucks!!!!!) to our churchs humanitarian aid for haiti.

then, her cousin, bailey heard about all this. she wanted to do it too. so she and her mother got to work. they had so much fun doing it all afternoon one day, that bailey insisted on doing it the next day as well. i quote my sister when i asked her to go shopping in salt lake with me, " i cant britt sorry, we are up to our eyeballs in cupcakes for haiti."

what great examples of selfless service coming from these
adorable four and five year olds.
they are matching little cuties here,

{pics from brody dezember, our wedding photographer.}

so with this inspiration i have decided to donate the money i make from selling my darling( if i do say so myself) homemade mirrors. to haiti relief.

i have made these for a few months now, and they just keep getting cuter and cuter. here is a peek at a couple. i have one million different patterns (including a children's line) and assorted ribbons or no ribbons...burnt edges or not etc. you just let me know what you like or dislike and the baby is yours.
{example of burnt edges}

{with ribbon to hang}

{without ribbon}

i have some very vinatge feel,
some very modern.
every color scheme you can imagine.
they can be a mirror or
 a picture frame.
 you choose.

the price is $10.
leave me a comment if you are interested
or email me at
barney.britt@gmail.com
thanks!
  happy shopping.
loves!

my anthro plea.

my dearest anthropologie,

oh how i miss you. as you well know, i used to be able to shop and spend

most of my money on you at my leisure. the times have changed, as now i

am jacobs sugar mama, and am putting him through school. we can only afford but

one small item a month. i am ever so grateful for my one item. however, oh how i

miss grazing the racks with my arms full of try on items...and clicking and adding to

cart online. one day, i will return, but until then; cant we strike some kind of deal?

i will talk ever so highly of you and your fine apparel and

in turn, you can provide for me your clothing? oh how lovely it

would be.

sincerly,
britt
